The Era-Defining Aesthetic of “In the Mood for Love”
Designed an interactive personal essay / critical exploration of Wong Kar Wai’s iconic film. Worked with editors, writers, and developers to bring the project through all phases of production: concepts, wireframes, interaction and motion design, high-fidelity mocks, prototypes, and contributed front-end engineering.

Through multiple film viewings, research, and conversations with writers and editors; several visual concepts and strategies were identified early in the design process.

Concepts evolved throughout production and alongside the development of the article itself. Repetitive moments, cultural influence, film cells, obfuscation, still lives, and missed connections were among the highlighted themes.

Special care was taken to prototype, think through, and refine specific effects. The interactive team benefited from overlapping skill sets, allowing for shared contributions across design, development, and conceptualizing.
